The St. Mary's Guide Company specializes in the trout and salmon fisheries on the St. Mary's River. We strongly encourage you to book your trips according to the information presented on this page and in the fishing reports in order to guarantee your success on the St. Mary's River. The peak seasons we suggest are the periods during which we encourage you to book your trips for the species you wish to target. The peak water temps are the temps that we typically see during the peak seasons for each species. 

 

Trout and Salmon Species By Season:

Atlantic Salmon

Early Season: April-Early June

Peak Season: Early June-Mid July

Late Season: Mid July-Early August

Peak Water Temps: 50-60F

 

Steelhead

Early Fall Season: Late August-Mid October

Peak Fall Season: Mid October-Late November

Early Spring Season: April-Early May

Though the St. Mary's Guide Company specializes in targeting the Atlantic Salmon, deemed by many as the noblest of sport fish, and other trout and salmon, feel free to inquire about other fishing opportunities on the St. Mary's River. Special guided excursions may be arranged upon request, as we aim to accommodate the needs and wants of all fishermen!

 

Though we may not be able to offer guided excursions for all game species,we are certainly knowledgeable in all of the fresh water species found in the St. Mary's River system and can provide advice on tackle selection, fishing locations, and possibly even local guides that specialize in catching the fish you wish to target.
