St. Mary's Guide Company: Where "Reel" Fish Tales Begin

The morning sun beats down and you begin to break a sweat as you place a perfect cast just above a deep, clear pool. Long dark shadows shift ominously in the current as your streamer swims just below the surface. Without any warning the surface of the water explodes as a hefty Atlantic Salmon strikes your fly with the force of a torpedo. A quick strip of the line and you realize the fish missed the fly. Before you can pull another strip of line through your fingers, two more shadows race towards the surface. Again the water ruptures as a silvery salmon clears the surface with your fly clenched between its jaws.

Does this sound like a familiar experience? If not, it is time to take a trip to the world-famous St. Mary’s River, where thousands of Atlantic Salmon gather each year, amongst a variety of other trout and salmon species, to spend the summer before taking to the gravel to spawn later in the fall. These salmon offer anglers of all backgrounds a unique fishing opportunity like none other and are susceptible to fly and lure throughout a great portion of the spring and summer.

Book Your Next Fishing Adventure With The St. Mary's Guide Company

Beginning in the spring of 2009, the St. Mary's Guide Company will offer guided fishing experiences to interested anglers, providing an invaluable learning experience and a once in a lifetime opportunity to beginning and seasoned anglers alike to take advantage of the fishing opportunities that exist on the St. Mary’s River.

Anglers are invited to join guide Captain Travis White for an unforgettable fishing experience. Atlantic Salmon can be taken on fly, wet and dry, throughout the summer, which entails a head to head fight that no avid fly fisherman will ever forget. For those who prefer to use spin tackle, these salmon provide a memorable challenge on ultra-light tackle and a vigorous battle on heavier tackle as well. No fishing experience is necessary to land one’s first Atlantic Salmon, and on site fishing lessons are perhaps one of the most valuable aspects of a guided fishing trip.
